"Well, folks, the Greek charter yacht show here on Poros doesn’t end for another two days, but I am off this afternoon for the Athens airport, where I’ll catch a flight to the other side of Greece and a sailing gulet that’s awaiting me in the harbor on the island of Rhodes.

I’ve had only two days to get on and off about two dozen boats here, all the while talking to reputable charter brokers about their favorites, as well. Thus far, I neither see nor have heard of any motoryacht that has stood out far above the others. However, in the sailing category, I think there is a clear star of the show.

Her name is Aristarchos, and she’s a 131-footer built by Swan in 2006. She looks brand spanking new (which she pretty much is), with an interior that just oozes elegance in a contemporary, clean style. I hear the captain and chef are well known, too, with more than eight years’ experience in high-end charter here in Greece. A party they threw onboard last night drew rave reviews in terms of food and service.

Most interesting, I think, is that Aristarchos takes just six guests at a time, with a crew of six to offer one-on-one service. That would explain her lowest weekly base rate, which is a whopping 87,500 euros, or about $120,000 (the price jumps to 95,000 euros, or about $130,000, during the high season months this summer).

That’s at least $20,000 per person even before typical expenses are added, easily one of the more expensive sailing yachts available for charter in the world today.
